Made Design Jewelry is an independent studio founded by artist and maker Bobo Wince. Since the early 2000s, the work has grown through hand fabrication, worldwide stone sourcing and a belief that well-designed objects should become more personal with time.

Bobo Wince / Founder
A maker's practice that became a jewelry studio.
Bobo Wince has spent his life making things. He brings the eye of a painter and sculptor to jewelry, looking first at form, surface, proportion and material rather than starting from a conventional jewelry template.
Bobo grew up around craftspeople and makers, spending time in workshops and learning to look closely at how objects are built. His practice has moved through painting, sculpture, fabrication and jewelry. After studying at Rhode Island School of Design and relocating to Los Angeles, he launched Made Design Jewelry in the early 2000s.
The jewelry developed from the same instinct that still drives the studio now: discover material with a strong identity, understand what is already present in it, and make the object around that.
Our point of view
Good objects should outlast the moment that made them fashionable.
As trends change, the value of a well-designed object endures. That longevity is central to Made Design Jewelry.
We are drawn to materials that reward a closer look: a flash inside an opal, a line of matrix through turquoise, the architecture of a crystal, an imperfect pearl, a fossil surface, or an inclusion that makes one stone impossible to duplicate. The artistic process is often about finding what is not immediately obvious and making it tangible.
That approach also shapes how we think about ownership. Jewelry becomes more interesting after it leaves the studio. It gathers wear, memory and association. A one-of-one piece is not just scarce; it becomes specific to the person who lives with it.
Independent by design
Made Design Jewelry has grown through direct relationships rather than a conventional seasonal fashion calendar. We make in Los Angeles, source through travel and trusted relationships, sell in person at selected events, work with wholesale partners, maintain a long-running relationship with Japan, and continue to make singular pieces that may never be repeated.

Bobo's background spans painting, sculpture, fabrication and jewelry, with early exposure to craftspeople and workshops shaping how he approaches materials.

After studying at Rhode Island School of Design and moving west, Bobo established Made Design Jewelry as a hands-on Los Angeles studio practice.

Gem markets, cutters, dealers and trusted sources around the world expand the material library. Sourcing becomes inseparable from designing.

A lasting audience abroad
The studio develops a long-running retail relationship in Japan, where one-of-one work and the material-driven approach find a dedicated audience.

The work continues to be handmade in Los Angeles and reaches customers through the online store, selected events, direct relationships and wholesale.
No two pieces need to be the same
Natural variation is allowed to stay visible. Settings and proportions are changed to suit the actual material instead of forcing everything toward one standardized result.

We want the work to be worn regularly, collected over time and kept long enough to become part of a person's own history.
